THE WHOLESALE FORKLIFT FIELD GUIDE
Compare the full cost of a forklift
Put the purchase price in the context of the work.
Build a common comparison period
Choose the same period and expected operating hours for each offer. Keep assumptions visible. Include purchase price, freight, unloading, required preparation and infrastructure before estimating ongoing costs.
Account for energy and maintenance
Use the proposed duty cycle and local energy or fuel assumptions. Include scheduled servicing, tyres and other wear items. For electric equipment, consider battery condition and replacement exposure; for combustion equipment, include engine and fuel-system maintenance.
Consider downtime and support
Ask about local parts availability and service arrangements. A lower purchase price may be less useful if repairs or support gaps interrupt a time-sensitive operation. Treat uptime or savings claims as questions requiring evidence.
Separate estimates from offers
Your calculation is a planning tool. It is not a quote, financing approval or guarantee of resale value. Update it when actual inspection results and seller terms become available.
Keep building your brief.
